As Christmas approaches, Provence reveals its most genuine soul. In Aubagne, nestled between sunlit hills and quiet olive groves, the workshops of the santon makers come to life — skilled hands shaping tiny clay figures that tell the story of an entire village. Each face, each gesture, carries the warmth of a timeless craft passed down through generations.

Following in the footsteps of Marcel Pagnol, native son of Provence, visitors discover a land where simplicity and tradition meet. In nearby Allauch, Gilbert Orsini’s animated nativity scene brings this heritage to life — a moving tableau of village life, filled with tenderness, light, and human warmth.

A December stay in Aubagne is an immersion into an authentic Provence — one of craftsmanship, storytelling, and heartfelt traditions that shine brightest in the gentle glow of winter.

In the heart of the Provençal winter, as the light softens and the hills begin to stir, the almond trees in bloom herald the return of spring. From February to March, Provence dresses itself in shades of white and soft pink, like a gentle promise of renewal.
Across the Luberon, Alpilles, Ventoux, and Verdon, the scenery turns poetic: fields shimmer with fragile petals, hilltop villages appear wrapped in a floral mist, and the air is filled with sweet almond and honey aromas.
It’s the perfect time to wander along country roads, meet local producers, and embrace the art of Provençal living.
Bathed in golden light, the blooming almond trees offer a unique sensory and visual experience, blending nature, tradition, and emotion.

An authentic immersion into history & art in the heart of Provence

Dive into an extraordinary cultural heritage site: the Carrières de Lumières, set into the cliffs of the Val d’Enfer, just steps away from Les Baux-de-Provence. This monumental quarry began its story centuries ago, long before becoming an immersive digital art venue: stone was already being extracted here in Roman times, and in the 19th century the so-called Grands Fonds quarry was exploited for its white limestone and even for bauxite, the red mineral discovered in 1821.
In 1935, the quarry closed, a victim of the decline of cut stone in favour of concrete and steel.
But in 1959, a new era began: the site was reborn as a “sanctuary for art,” a source of inspiration for creators, a film set, a labyrinth of projected images. Today, within its stone pillars, slabs and ceilings, unique visual and sound worlds come to life: monumental projections, shifting light, and breathtaking acoustics.
